Zoican regular

The art is on the subject from the warhammer 40K fiction Gaunt's Ghosts by Dan Abnett.

After the work on the Vervun Primary, it would be foolish of me to not include their enemy, the Zoican.

Zoican, or FerroZoica, is the chaos host in the Vervunhive war. The hive of FerroZoica was somehow corrupted by the evil influence of a chaos lord called Heritor Asphodel (one of the champions facing the Imperials in the Sabbat World Crusade). Asphodel had brainwashed the whole population of Zoica and with them as his mindless armies, he siege the Vervunhive in an attempt to take over the world of Verghast.

I had put some thoughts into designing them, while trying hard to stay focus on the description written by Abnett in the novel (Necropolis). Zoican wear ochre (yellow) colored fatigues and combat armor while their helmet is full face and somehow sculpted. So, I had been thinking on this and finally decided to combine the helmet design of the Spanish conquistador and the masquerade mask. I do believe that in an advance hive like Zoica, they must have some artisan to do the sculpturing and so, the ornate helmet plus the sculpted face mask came out. For this, I had been looking into lots of stuff like the Italian fresco and more shit ^^ and I do believe the final result does give the zoican an evil, yet mysterious kinda expression. They might look harmless with the mask but you will never know what kinda monster lurk beneath!

And the same with the uniform. I followed the design of the conquistador and the stripe shirt of the Portuguese fencer.

Lastly, the lasgun. Since it is mentioned that zoican is a hive advance in mechanical engineering and stuff, their issued lasgun have a more sleek and savvy look to them, compared to those bulky Cadian type lasguns.
