tribute to the warhammer 40k community all and all and the fans of the inquisition bla bla bla.
the fluff (for 40k Nazis):
During the end of the 41st Millennium, after the infamous Inquisitor Lord Karamazov of the Hereticus ordos clashed with the radical inquisitors of the Thorian faction, most of his best retinues and students were branded as potential enemies in the political arena of the inquisition in general, especially to those of the radical kinds.
2 of his students, the Kessler brothers, were among several rising stars in the ordos when they finally gained their Inquisitor title. They operate mostly in the Tiamat sector - an industrial system pulsing with unhealthy psyk activities.
Their early years have nothing much to write about but during their first 20 years as active inquisitors, their career breakthrough found its way in the world of Venutia - famed for its munition manufacturers and promethium purification.
it is when the doge of venutia (planetary governor) started practicing strange rituals and erecting unknown shrines in secret that the Kesslers came down upon him like vultures.
Any good and... skilled inquisitors would have waited, planned and execute when the perfect moment arises. But not the Kesslers. Courtesy or patience was never a virtue to any of them. With 2 full companies of Adepta Sororitas of the Order of the Eternal Candle along with their own brigand of retinues, the 2 Inquisitor held the doge and his royal families at gun point and began interrogation at once.
Words spread. Thorian inquisitors immediately stood on the side of the doge to fight for his freedom and innocence and due to the political status of the doge, his absence from the throne commanded great power from his allies.
The Kesslers kept the royal families deep below the ancestral necropolis-crypt of ancient Venutia and tried every interrogation techniques they have learned from their experience as Interrogator many long years before. By the fifth day, the whole royal family and retinues, from the cooks to the palace guards have all been expired. Leaving only the doge and his mistress, kept alive by strong drugs.
His last words were recorded.
"Do you repent?"
"By the Throne, no! I beg of you, please!"
"Begging is a weak display of faith. By begging, you have stripped yourself of the gift from the Immortal Emperor to stand resolute and to fight for your innocent, though if you plea for innocence, you shall find none from us."
Acting as judges, juries and excecutioners, the Kessler twins emerged from the crypt with the wrecked remains of the doge and his mistress, only to have them burned extravagantly upon the stake of the inquisition on the charge of practicing unsanctioned witchcraft.
Outrage at such display spread through the entire sector and sparked the hatred of the Thorian inquisitors who wanted the Kessler twins to be arrested for their unreasonable actions. The apex of the moment came when radical Inquisitor Halgrim of the Ordo Xenos commanded a company of deathwatch marines, directly challenging the Kesslers.
A war within the inquisition would have ensue but for the intervention of Lord Karamazov.
As for the possible taint on the doge of Venutia, it is still unknown.
well, not much of a fluff. still, can do better ^^ hehehe
As usual your dedication to detail and gradient shading is unparreled. The burns, scars, Warp riddled tissue (I am guessing!) is great and adds worlds of depth and flavour to these 40k Gunslingers. The crufixes in the background are particularily ornate and gruesome, a great example of 'cultured barbarism'. I was always more a fan of the Inquisition as opposed to the more straight forward bastions of the Empire (Space Marines, IG, Sisters of Battle). The mix of light, medium and heavy troops, with prominent figures brought into place by their character (and a tonne of weird mutilations, cyborgs, psykers and other dedicants to the Emperor) make Inquisition characters much more interesting
good work!
