Gaunt's ghosts stuff. Book 3 necropolis. I am back to do more Vervunhive, it is the 5 star battle of all Ghost's engagements so far.
Well, this is no Ghost's fight, this is a unrecorded (because there isn't much people left alive to tell the tale) battle between the Zoican invaders and the outer hab Vervun Primary defenders who found themselves trapped between the Zoicans and the hive gate- Sondar Gate, which was sealed to keep the invader out.
The garrison captain, Olin Fencer was in for a fight. Most of his men died of starvation, madness and shell damage. 3 of his soldiers was killed by an enraged corporal who had gone mad, before killing himself too. And when the Zoicans came, it was very one sided.
Fencer died, taking a shot to the guts. He cried his mom's name, his papa's name, his grandmother's and grandfather's name, his ancestors' names and also his dog's name. He shot the Zoicans, killing dozens, with full auto fires and when he died, he was still pressing the trigger. Such courage!
